Into the future under one roof

The Association of German Freight Forwarders and Logistics Operators (Deutscher Speditions- und Logistikverband e.V. - DSLV) is a fairly young organisation. It was founded 2003 in Bonn. It was the merger of the two most important organisations representing the interests of our industry – the Federal Association of Freight Forwarders (Bundesverband Spedition und Logistik - BSL) with its regional member associations and the Association of German Road Hauliers (Vereinigung Deutscher Kraftwagenspediteure - VKS). With its approximately 4,000 members, the DSLV represents about 90% of the estimated 55 billion Euros turnover generated by this industry. With its headquarters in Bonn, an office in Berlin and direct connections to international freight forwarding organisations – in Europe CLECAT – and globally FIATA and IRU.org, the DSLV is present wherever the course is set for economic developments, where politics happens. It is consulted, its voice carries weight. As a discussion partner, a consultant and as a voice of the whole industry – with a clear profile and definitive viewpoints.

In addition to its traditional role as speaker for the industry as a whole, the DSLV also sees itself as consultant and service provider. As an organisation based at the heart of the business catering for the business, it acts both as service provider for member companies and as an exchange-point for know-how about business practices. The Association also concerns itself with “accompanying” the industry on its way into the age of electronics by offering advice and practical assistance, to promote training and further professional education and to inform the general public about the significance of logistics as a motor for economic growth.

Services

• The DSLV participates in discussions concerning transport issues and represents the interests of its members regarding planned legislation, rules, regulations and guidelines. It takes up positions, it intervenes and supports the interests of its industry towards manufacturers and traders as well as carriers.

• Praxis-oriented specialist groups, committees and working groups concern themselves intensively with analysing logistical, legal, organisational and micro-economical problems – working out innovative solutions.

• The Association keeps its member companies up-to-date, informing them regularly and extensively about everything that might make their work easier. Towards the public it represents and publicises the industry’s views.

• Both, at national and at regional level the Association organises specialist symposia, seminars and workshops.

In close co-operation with the Association of Employers in the Freight Forwarding and Logistics Industry (Arbeitgeberverband Spedition und Logistik Deutschland - ASL), the co-operation for automotive transports within the DSLV (Verein Automobillogistik im DSLV - AML), the SAFE organisation (Schutz- und Aktionsgesellschaft mbH), the organisation of consolidating forwarders within the DSLV (Vereinigung der Sammelgutspediteure im DSLV -Versa) as well as our co-operation partner AMÖ, the Federal Association of Removal Agents (Bundesverband Möbelspedition, the DSLV is the only top organisation in the German transportation sector that covers the whole spectrum of freight forwarding and logistics in Germany.
